Gurnee, Illinois Fatman Inn bar and restaurant was the host for "Open Road Radio's 2nd Annual Fat-Fest" held on August 20th, 2006, and the home to a never before seen event that featured five chick bike builders, coming together to build a chopper in front of a live audience.

Chicks build bike in record time of 6 hours 50 minutes before packed crowd,
for Breast Cancer Awareness on August 20, 2006.

The Fat Fest 2006 event set an Industry record with the chick builders assembling the bike in just 6 hours and 50 minutes– Way to go Chickies. Crowds cheered as the bike was started in victory of the completion.
The five chick bike builders are.... atthena "chickie" ransom of Vagabond Chopper Company, Katie Putman of Mitch Bergeron's, Jamie Gray from Huntington Beach Hogs and Choppers, Sarah Lyon of magnum cycles and Joanne Bortles of Crazy Horse Custom Painting. These five chicks provided a wealth of talent and knowledge in bike building expertise. Joanne designed the gas tank with her pink tribal flames and the Breast Cancer ribbon icon, while the other four chicks worked on the assembly of this special bike.

All were impressed by the camaraderie displayed by the chicks during the event's long bike build, and cheered at the end of the day when the bike was started up by The Chickie, surrounded by her team. The spectators as well as other bike builders whom attended the bike event were amazed at the team work, efficiency and professional way in which the bike was built. To commemorate their accomplishment the five had an “Indy Car” style celebration while the spectators continued to applaud their feat. Many thanks to all of the wonderful companies that supported this event!
The Chicks will be doing it in Daytona for Bike Week 2007, building to help find a cure.
